The Amazing Explorers Academy in Waterford Lakes cut the ribbon on a brand new STEM LAB built and designed by the Orlando Science Center. Preschoolers make play time scientific in new STEM LAB. Playing in the sandbox doesn’t cut it anymore in preschool.

“We’re preparing our students for good careers,” Amazing Explorers Chief Learning Officer. The ribbon was cut last May at a brand new STEM LAB inside the Amazing Explorers Academy in Waterford Lakes, built by the Orlando Science Center.

“These exhibits are giving them hands on training in complex subjects” said Vice President of Marketing at the Orlando Science Center Jeff Stanford.

Exhibits include an augmented reality sandbox as well as a excavation dig site full of pretend dinosaur fossils. Also a Medical Lab with digital microscopes and a light table, Engineering Zone and A Maker Space With tools for cutting, drilling, and doing innovative work limited only by the students.

“They’re learning 21st century skills”.

Both full time students and those in the after school care program will have a chance to use the exhibits daily. And that’s good news for 5 year old William McVay. “I got to dig dinosaur bones and we built a bridge,” said McVay. Sounds like we have a science major in the making.
