Florida’s free Voluntary Prekindergarten program — also known as VPK — offers 4- and 5-year-olds living in Florida the opportunity to get a leg up on learning.
Amazing Explorers, the STEAM-based learning center that uses an innovative approach to early childhood education, participates in the VPK program, providing young students with the opportunity of a lifetime for free!
What Parents Need to Know about VPK at Amazing Explorers
Numerous academic studies have shown that VPK offers children the opportunity to perform better in school throughout their educational careers and into their professional careers.
It includes quality programs that have age-appropriate curricula with a strong emphasis on literacy skills.
These state-funded programs guarantee accountability, manageable class sizes, and qualified instructors.
Amazing Explorers VPK Options
Parents have the choice of sending their children to various program options.
The first is the Amazing Explorers VPK Summer program, which offers 300 instructional hours. Class sizes cannot exceed 12 students with one instructor and teachers are required to have at least a bachelor’s degree.
A second option is the Amazing Explorers school year program, which offers 530 instructional hours and features class sizes that cannot exceed 11 students with a single lead instructor, or 20 students where there is a lead instructor and an assistant.
All instructors are required to have the minimum Florida Child Care Professional Credentials.
VPK Specialized Instruction
A third option is the VPK specialized instructional services educational program, which takes place outside the traditional classroom setting and is designed for 4-year-olds with special needs who have current individualized educational plans from their local school districts.
